On
4 February, Saint Agatha's Eve is celebrated throughout the Basque Country.
In Zerain, a group of adults and children go round the farmhouses during
the early evening, singing and asking for alms in the name of the Saint.
Although in the olden days farmers used to give chickens, capons and
chorizo sausages, nowadays, it is more typical to give money.
All the money collected during this festival
is donated to charity.
