THE GOIERRI REGION > Urban Goierri

First on the list is a visit to Ordizia, where an open air market has been held every Wednesday since 1512. This market is of great interest to tourists, and features agricultural products and animals from all over Goierri.

In addition to its market, Ordizia also has an old quarter that, thanks to the cultural and architectural value of its church, palaces and house-towers, etc., not to mention the sculpture by Oteiza, has been declared a Historical Monument. The route continues on to Beasain, for a visit to the Igartza Monumental Buildings, where you can see a palace (complete with slide show), mill, smithy, inns, hermitage, bridge and crossroads. The route finishes in Lazkao with a visit to the Infantado Palace, the Benedictine Convent, the Bernadine Monastery and the well-known tavern of the bertsolari (Basque poet) Lazkao Txiki.
